Protect Yourself from Fraud and Scams
At Alignment Health Plan, your safety and privacy are very important to us. We want to help you stay informed about common scams that target Medicare members and offer simple ways to protect yourself.
What to Watch For
Knowing what to look for is the first step to protecting your information. Common Medicare scams often involve texts, emails, or calls that attempt to collect personal or financial information.
Look out for:
- Unsolicited calls, texts, or emails asking for personal or financial information, including your Social Security and Medicare number
- Messages or phone numbers that appear to come from Alignment Health Plan but have slightly incorrect phone numbers
- Unexpected links in texts or emails, especially after a doctor visit, hospital stay, or used a plan benefit
Ways to Protect Yourself
There are several ways you can protect yourself:
- Don’t engage with unknown contacts. If you don’t recognize the sender, don’t reply, click, or give out any information.
- Use only trusted phone numbers to reach us:
- Treat your Alignment Health Plan Member ID Card like a credit card. Don’t share it or its details unless necessary.
- Check your statements regularly. Watch for services or charges you don’t recognize.
What Alignment Health Plan Will Never Do
We will never call, text, or email you unsolicited to ask for your Social Security number, bank account, or payment information. If you reach out to us directly—for example, to pay a premium—you may be asked to verify your identity securely.
